Painting Process

  • - Choose Colors & Finishes: Select the right paint type (matte, satin, semi-gloss, gloss) based on the room and surface.

    - Measure & Estimate: Calculate the amount of paint needed to avoid excess or shortages.

    - Gather Supplies: Brushes, rollers, painter’s tape, drop cloths, primer, and paint.

  • - Clean the Surface: Remove dirt, dust, and grease using a damp cloth or mild detergent.

    - Repair Imperfections: Patch holes, cracks, and dents with spackle or filler, then sand smooth.

    - Remove Old Paint (if necessary): Scrape or sand peeling paint for a smooth finish.

    - Apply Painter’s Tape: Protect trim, edges, and areas not being painted.

    - Use Drop Cloths: Cover floors and furniture to prevent drips and spills.

  • - Apply a Primer: Helps paint adhere better, especially on new drywall, stained areas, or drastic color changes.

    - Let It Dry: Follow the recommended drying time before applying the first coat of paint.

  • - Cut In Edges: Use a brush to paint along corners, ceilings, and trim before rolling larger areas.

    - Roll the Walls: Use a roller for even coverage, applying paint in a “W” or “M” pattern for smooth blending.

    - Apply Multiple Coats: Typically, 2 coats are needed for even color and coverage. Allow proper drying time between coats.

  • - Remove Tape Carefully: Peel off painter’s tape while the paint is still slightly tacky to avoid peeling.

    - Touch Up & Inspect: Fix any missed spots or uneven areas.

    - Let the Paint Cure: While paint may feel dry in a few hours, full curing can take several days.

  • - Wash Brushes & Rollers: If using water-based paint, clean tools with soap and water; for oil-based, use mineral spirits.

    - Dispose of Materials Properly: Check local regulations for paint disposal.

    - Reassemble the Room: Move furniture back and enjoy the fresh, new look!
